Cancer Mutation Products
The K-RAS Mutation Test Kit has now been CE-Marked and will be available
for professional diagnostic use from 1st January 2008. We have completed
the EU registration and the product is CE-marked under the European IVD
Directive 98/79/EC. The kit detects seven key mutations in codons 12 and
13 of the K-RAS oncogene. More information to follow.

The DXS EGFR29 Mutation Test kit is a highly selective assay for the detection of the 29 most common somatic mutations in the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) gene. Recent studies into non-small cell lung cancer have shown that some patients carry somatic mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor gene (EGFR). These mutations correlate with responsiveness to tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as gefitinib and erlotinib, with some mutations having a sensitising effect and others being linked to resistance. DxS's sensitive real-time PCR kit for the detection
of the T790M mutation in exon 20 of the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR)
gene. A vital tool for understanding the association between T790M mutations
and resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. More

DxS have most recently launched the DxS K-RAS Mutation Detection Kit,
which adds to their expanding portfolio of cancer mutation detection
products. K-RAS mutation status is emerging as an important predictor of
drug response, recent publications suggest that in lung cancer patients
the K-RAS mutation status is a strong predictor of resistance to therapy
with tyrosine kinase inhibitors . The kit is highly selective and robust,
detecting seven key mutations in the K-RAS gene. DxS' K-RAS assays employ
a real-time PCR format combining Scorpions® and ARMS® (allele specific
PCR) technologies. More

The DxS B-RAF assay detects V600E, the most common mutation in the B-RAF
oncogene, which occurs in many types of cancer including melanoma,
colorectal and lung. Tumours with the V600E mutation are exquisitely
sensitive to drugs that inhibit the MEK pathway; therefore this assay is
likely to be useful to investigate which patients will respond to these
drugs. Companies with MEK inhibitor drugs in development include Pfizer,
AstraZeneca and Roche. More

DxS have recently launched a test kit to detect the T315I mutation in the kinase domain of the BCR-ABL fusion protein. The presence of this mutation confers resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI's), which is a highly effective therapy treatment for patients with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). In order to detect these low level emergent alleles, we have combined sensitive and selective ARMS® (allele specific PCR) with Scorpions® real-time PCR technology. More details...
